Intranet

Intranet

  • An intranet is a private network that can only be accessed by authorised users. The prefix "intra" means "internal" and therefore implies an intranet is designed for internal communications between offices or manufacturing units situated in different places.
  • Some intranets are limited to a specific local area network (LAN), while others can be accessed from remote locations over the Internet. Local intranets are generally the most secure since they can only be accessed from within the network. Local Area Network can be created using Wireless or Fiber.
  • An intranet is fully secured as it is only accessible to people within a specific organisation.
  • It enables the employees of an organisation to share information, collaborate, and improve their communications.
  • Managing and sharing documents is one of the most important features of an intranet. Ex. ERP software and sharing of files
  • Voice calls can be made within the organisation using EAPBX or IPBX
  • CCTV digital surveillance can be monitored and stored through Intranet
